In the state of California, just north of the famous Silicon Valley, in the Alameda County, you can find the beautiful cities of Union City, Hayward and Castro Valley. Incorporated in 1959, the city was originally the separate cities of Alvarado, New Haven, and Decoto; Union City sits comfortably close by to both major cities San Jose and San Francisco. As Alvarado is considered a California Historical Landmark, so state law protects part of the city, but it still stands at a population of 77,000. The Ohlone people were the latest Native Americans to inhabit the modern-day city of Hayward just before the European encounter. This city was named after William Dutton Hayward who one of the earliest land owners in this area. This city was officially incorporated in 1876, and it is estimated that about 159,000 people call it home. Castro Valley is an unincorporated community but still stands at a current population of just under 65,000 people. The Chocheno people were the earliest inhabitants of Castro Valley before the European arrival. In 1797, this area was given to the Mission San Jose and the emerging town developed as an industrial community with the introduction of sawmills. Named after Don Guillermo Castro, a Mexican soldier and rancher, the community was originally known for its chicken ranching, but has grown to be much more than that today.

The three cities, like the rest of the Alameda County, are located in a Mediterranean climate, meaning they enjoy sunny and warm weather with a decent amount of precipitation in the winter months. The county averages highs of around 70 degrees Fahrenheit and lows of around 48 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This region registers about 27 inches of rainfall every year. January is the wettest month with about 5 inches of rainfall while July is the driest with less than an inch. These numbers are a bit cooler than the average Mediterranean climate but the three cities and county are located in the Northern California, so this is to be expected.

The residents of this locality have access to various modern schools. The largest public university within this area is the California State University, East Bay. Transport within this area is swift courtesy of I-880, I-238, and I-580 which pass through it. No matter which city you choose to live, and all are excellent options, rest assured that you will be connected to anywhere that you need to go, at any time, in Alameda County.
